The '''Bastonian Monarch''' is the ruler of the kingdom of [[Bastonia]]. Nominally, the position is hereditary, but frequent wars of succession within that kingdom have stimied its linear flow. The institution of the office came after the [[Battle of the First Wall]], when [[The Almighty]] proclaimed her champion, [[San Lukas]], the first such king. This granted a divine right of kings as well as bestowing a divine lineage argument to the Royal House, but of course over the centuries this bloodline became so widespread that many claimants to the title appear on each generation. Monarchs of Bastonian rarely use the style "monarch", with the majority to date having chosen King or Queen; at least three over the centuries have taken inspiration from [[San Lauren]] and remained with the title "Monarch of Bastonia" in their style.

To become the Bastonian Monarch, you must convince the [[Archbishop of Whiterock]] of your claim to the throne, and be coronated with the [[Crown of San Lukas]].
