The '''King of Alteria''' is a monarchy established in relatively recent history, after a brief but bloody internal war following the [[Great Collapse]], which saw the [[Jonbei]] family rise above the other nobility of the region to become the city's absolute rulers. The position is purely secular, but owing to the nature of the city itself is seen as strongly tied to the church of [[Xia Leng]].

Kings of Alteria are seen as untrustworthy in part due to the nature of their foundation but also due to the city's constant preparations for wars that never seem to materialize.
