Voices have come from all genders amongst the dwarves and are invariably chosen by divine intervention; in point of fact they are almost always oracles in addition to their clerical duties.

The Voice of Torserd lives out the remainder of their life in a state of perpetual channeling meditation in the chamber of the voice at the [[Temple of the Deep]]. They are attended around the clock to preserve their vitality and record their words for posterity and analysis. Eventually, toward the end of their lives, the Voice of Torserd "goes silent". Many choose thereafter to attend a living funeral before throwing themselves into the chasm below the temple.
