Age of Rebellion
The Age of Rebellion is an age of the Annals of Bastonia. The years in this age are contemporarily counted backward, with the age beginning in a year recorded as 170 Before the Walls and ending in the year 0 Before the Walls, which is the year of the Battle of the First Wall. The year 170 before the walls was chosen as the start of the epic because it is the year in which | Lukas the Rebellious was born in the city of Baghar as one of the Enemy's innumerable slaves.
By 120 Before the Walls, which is the start of the Age of Elvish Springtime in the Rophalin Calendar, Lukas lead a rebellion initially consisting of his fellow slaves from a mine in the territory now known as The Bleak, having slain the colony's overseer, a powerful devil, Balghorond. He and his company scattered into the wilderness of the Lordless Lands, with some legends (often considered apocryphal by the contemporary Church of Bastonia) speaking to how the clan learned to survive this rough terrain from either the Orcish Nation or the Confederacy of Sages. Many humans native to the Lordless Lands trace themselves back to this rebellion.
By 100 before the walls, Lukas and his followers had ranged far enough north to have entered what is now the Bastonian Heartlands and established themselves a camp at what is now the modern city of Whiterock. Believing to have found themselves a place of safety, Lukas agreed to his wife | Heather of High Toor's plan to build a fortified city upon this location, trusting distance and the constant state of war between the loyalist humans and the Orcish Nation to distract the forces of The Enemy long enough to establish themselves. In this year, Lukas also had a vision of the Almighty which strengthened his resolve and that of his companions - this event being known as the Epiphany.
In truth, the following century of rebellion was mostly the construction of the city itself - the bulk of the history that followed as it would have been experienced by The Enemy consisted of repeated disasters as colonies turned against his rule and fled north, and orcs managed to sack both High Toor and Baghar - these two events usually being left out of Church of Bastonia liturgies. These events came to a head as a desperate Enemy sought to crush the loudest of the rebel forces - those swearing fealty to the Almighty - and instead suffered the defeat of the Battle of the First Wall.
The age ends at this battle - in Bastonian reckoning, all that comes after is the Age of Bastion.
