Lord Kerr Ultwin the Undiminished (AES 40 - ???) was a human follower of the Enemy who had risen to a position of prominence and authority in the Men of the Gauntlet, ultimately serving as a Lord Commander.
The precise details of his place of birth and heritage are not known. Being born in the 40th year of the Age of Elven Summer, he was also born prior to the Age of Rebellion in Bastonian Reckoning. He is supposed to be of noble birth and was in the Men of the Gauntlet well prior to the beginning of the Age of Rebellion and the foundation of Whiterock. He is known to be an avid collector of artifacts from the Pre-Baghar Civilization, and lead small campaigns and personal quests to recover many such objects.
While most of his cohorts were brilliant martial combatants (his iconography shows him as proficient with sword and shield) in their own right and he was no exception, Kerr was better known for his arcane and occult pursuits, and his strong association with Necromancy and Conjuration, techniques of which he used to bolster his forces with his own fallen and the fallen soldiers of his enemies. Placed into his command after the death of his mentor during the Battle of the First Wall, he rose to particular prominence after the sack of Baghar in AES 75, during which he was the third in command of this entire order. To his chagrin, he was not given the governorship of the city of Baghar but did take a considerable portion of its principal libraries with him when he was assigned command of Graven Keep.
Ultwin continued to hold that posting well into the collapse of the enemy's forces. Indeed, he was still in command of his castle some 103 years later, when, in ASM 50, a dark ritual he was leading in order to either consolidate his own power or reinvigorate that of the Enemy lead to the desecration of the castle and the transformation of his living and undead followers into increasingly aberrant forms.
Since then, various theories and legends have formed around Ultwin. Some argue that he was a servant of San Verus by this time and was sucked into the Abyss or driven mad by contact with the Mad Saint's mind. Others posit that he and his creatures remain in the Keep, which remained abandoned (and usually lethal to would-be surveyors) until at least the early 17th century ASM. This later theory is accepted and promulgated by his contemporaries, San Elijah and San Meteo, who suspect Kerr was jealous of their divinity and wished to obtain it himself.
