Bare-Faced Exile is a particularly dire punishment under Dwarven Law, considered by many to be a death sentence. Handed down by the court, the dwarf so sentence is taken to a place of imprisonment, where the hair of their head and face is shaven off. They are meagerly equipped (unless the court rules otherwise), and banished forthwidth from the settlement, often proceeded by runners bearing messages to nearby holds with records of the sentence. Persons so exiled are rarely welcomed again in dwarven communities, though some may be accepted into the settlements of Clan Belinsson, usually pending some other form of trial. Some others, disgraced in the lands of the Dwarves, travel west into the land of Bastonia and scratch what living they can as craftspeople, or, if it is of their nature, continue in their criminal enterprises.
