The Order of the Obulus, often shortened simply to the Oblates, are a profane Chivalric Order headquartered near Coldwater in The North of Bastonia at an ancient fortification known as Chateausang. As a profane order they are officially outlaws, and as servants of San Meteo they are experts of subterfuge, meaning the exact strength, arrangement, and complement of their membership is unknown. They are effectively an unholy order of assassins, and like their saintly master are as likely to lash out at other servants of the Enemy as they are at good and pure Bastonians.

The commanding officer of the Oblates is known as its Master and is elected from the surviving ranking officers on the death or retirement of their predecessor. The Master, together with all other officers in the order, owes fealty to San Meteo through an intermediary referred to in captured documents as The Count of Westfall, though neither Westfall County nor any of the names associated with that title appear to actually exist.

The Order do not have a blazon but often feature two silver coins in their personal iconography or arms as one of many signs they give each other toward their existence, in reference to both the silver coins often left upon the eyes of their victims, as well as the mutually-referenced platinum coins San Meteo was paid for his intelligence during the Battle of the First Wall.

The Oblates refer to its internal subdivisions as chapters, strength otherwise unknown. Chapters of the order are thought to exist in most major cities of the Kingdom, operating in secret. It is unclear if, like San Meteo, they serve the best bidder, or if they serve some higher (or lower) purpose.
