Duke of Estmarch

The Duke of Estmarch is a title within the Bastonian nobility, second in order of precedence among the Bastonian Dukes and therefore second only to the Duke of Bastonia in importance. As all Dukedoms are in the gift of the Bastonian Monarch, and it is highly common for said monarch to have at least two heirs, the Duke of Estmarch is doubly assured of potential greatness, as the holder of the title is simultaneously the most plausible usurper to the throne if dishonourable, while an honourable Duke or Duchess of Estmarch is almost always destined to be crowned as a Grand Prince of Bastonia upon an accession to the throne.

However, the title carries with it commensurate peril, as Estmarch is second only to the Frontier Counties in terms of the level of strife and crisis presented to its rulers.
