Southreach

The dwarves term the southern portion of the Atlas Mountains as Southreach, and the region is home to the clanholds of Clan Balippasson and Clan Jarandsson. The region is comprised of the entire range of the Atlas Mountains south of it's branched chain that separates Estmarch and the Frontier Counties. It is the southernmost surface extent of the clanholds.

While the region contains more than a few passes that cross the mountains, the warlike dwarves of the clans that live in it prevent easy transit of any party much larger than a score of merchants here or there from crossing the mountains between the Lordless Lands and the Atarlie Frontier. In fact, one such attempt to open such a pass is enshrined forever in history as the Battle of Kalkin Gol.
