The Way of the Porcupine is one of the Orcish Nation's Ways of Blood, and arguably the newest of these martial traditions. The way was founded by Lum Spear-Breaker in ASM 1581, some years before the establishment of the Mighty Northern Horde, in response to the rising expansionism of Bastonia. The school is one of civil defense and readiness. Practicioners emphasize combat with open hands or improvised weapons, and the school sings the praises of ambush, concealed defenses, and the readiness to defend one's own home and loved ones.

The school was originally a comparatively minor effort, but following the Green Knoll Purge and the rise of Lum Spear-Breaker as an orcish diety, it has exploded in popularity in the disputed portion of the Lordless Lands which is held by Bastonia as the Frontier Counties, and is taught and organized mostly by senior members of the orcish resistance to other orcs around them who will listen.
